Working In a Heatwave!

Is it just me or do most people find working in a heatwave nigh on impossible?! I feel just too much in the holiday spirit!
Currently, in the UK we’re having a good week, and it’s set to last for several days. Current temperature as I write this is 24 degrees Celsius, with highs predicted to top 30 this week!
The problem, as far as I can see it, is that living in the UK compared to other countries not too far away, we get such little really good weather that it’s in our mentality to make the best of it whenever it crops up! Everyone ditches the house to smear on the sun cream and get the garden loungers out! When we had our last little spell of good weather, I moved my office outside on to the decking, plugged laptop in, had my mobile next to me, put the parasol up (so I could see my screen!) and away I went!
(And I definitely did not have a cool glass of Cornish cider as well next to me……that would be wrong….)
My attitude is as long as the work gets done, then it’s ok. I often work later in to the evening, or start earlier if the mood takes me. I do find myself longing to be in the garden, or at the beach as I was over the weekend for a short mini-break to Cornwall again.
I have a couple of voiceovers to record today which have to be done today, but that’s ok, they’re quite short. There are some other bits too paperwork wise, which could I think wait til later on when it’s cooler….
So is it wrong to feel like this when the weather turns out the way it currently is? Should we feel guilty? You decide…..

great blog Richard, I am off early to “work” in my garden
Thanks Paul!
I don’t blame you at all. It’s now 3:30pm, I haven’t had lunch yet, so am thinking I could just work on for a bit and bunk off earlier for late lunch and enjoy the heat…..
The last 2 years we had winter all round, never ending. So for me the good weather is excellent. I love the sun.
I share your sentiments. I prefer to work when it flows. Sometimes I will work right throught the night or late into the night. As long as the work get done, that’s all that matters.
Now all we need is the beach and ocean and I am sorted.
Enjoy the sun.
The sun rocks……and I don’t mean the newspaper lol
Yep, work when in work mode I think…..you’re absolutely right.
/Wanders off to find the nearest beach to Birmingham……
(D’Oh!)
