The Perils Of Coffee Drinking!
A title inspired by my colleague Ant Hodges!
I’ve always been a coffee drinker, ever since I was ‘old enough’. Don’t get me wrong, a nice cup of tea is absolutely fantastic, and there are times when only tea will do; after a crisis, when you’ve got a big decision to make, when it’s Tuesday; you know, the important stuff.
However, my nature dictates to me that I am a true blooded coffee drinker. Everything about it excites me; the opening of a new packet of fresh ground coffee, the overwhelming aroma of the beans, even popping the lid of a new jar of Kenco. There’s something very special about coffee, there really is.
Before Christmas ’09, I bought myself an early present, a Tassimo coffee machine. Over the years, I’ve had/used every type of coffee machine, and they end up left in a cupboard somewhere because they’re either a faff to use, faff to clean, or it just takes too long to make a single cup! Now, these types of machines were pretty new on me, as they work totally differently to a traditional machine with ground coffee. You simply pop in one of the coffee ‘pods’, (of which there are a multitude of different brands/types/strengths etc), make sure there’s water in the canister attached to the back of the unit, and just click the big silver button. 1min later, you’ve got a fantastic cup of steaming aromatic coffee!
I have to say, I use it every day, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought! Instant good-quality coffee, at your fingertips, literally. Although, it does mean that because of the simplicity of its usage, I’ve been drinking quite a lot of it recently!
Maybe I should flick to hot chocolate or tea for a while?
Nah….who am I kidding?
