Technology Makes Knowledge Gathering Easier

I do at times stop and think about how far technology has come on in the last 10 years or so. Now we’re in 2010, being able to receive up to the minute news and information via mobile handsets seems perfectly normal, but certainly wasn’t the case with me using one of my old Nokia’s from 2000!

Snow Leopard For Mac Released

Last Friday was the global launch of Apple’s new operating system, ‘Snow Leopard’. This has already sparked controversy with the techie people I’ve been talking to. Responses like “Oh they’re just charging you for a service pack update” and “it’s not a full OS, it’s hardly an upgrade, but they charge you anyway”.
That’s the kind of response I’ve been hearing over the last week. Not from everyone, though, certainly not from people that actually know what this new release was all about.

Apple Releases iDisk App for iPhone

It seems Apple read my mind with this one. Only last week, having not heard anything about this app anywhere, it just sprang into my mind; ‘wouldn’t it be nice to be able to access my iDisk on my iPhone?’.
Well, they’ve done it, and released a free application that will do just that. Via a simple login screen, you can access all the folders and files contained on your iDisk, and even access other people’s Public Folders to view PDF’s, videos, pictures, MS Office files and more.

Broadband: Are you paying too much?

For some time now, our broadband has often lagged, making me feel that we’re not getting the kind of service which you would expect for an (up to) 10MB plan. For most people of course, in theory, 10MB broadband would be plenty quick enough to suit their needs.
